Originally this post was to be named Artificial Intelligence: An Introduction. However, after struggling to write this post for the past 2 months I’ve realised it is a lot more than that. Even then, 2 months is nowhere near the amount of time I would allocate to a post like this because the information is always changing and innovation is around every corner. Although procrastination has come to an end and I’ve got to start somewhere. So here we go.
Who, Where, Why, am I? (the question)
It can be extremely depressing to think of these things. They are not questions for the weak to answer. The question in itself is unbearable. Not a single person is capable of answering it. Perhaps this is why we pursue paths towards superintelligence. Despite the fact that each and every one of us is part of the human race, we all view the world from an individual perspective. With the exception of books, movies, art, any creation where we are able to see, feel and experience the perspectives of others through a specific medium. So who’s to say creating a form of intelligence capable of surpassing the collective intelligence of the entire human race would even benefit us, the human race, in any way.
I would think that we are trying to create this intelligence out of sheer curiosity. Without even pausing to consider the outcomes. If we analyze the worst problems that we are currently facing as the human race, I guarantee a superintelligence is not required to solve a single one of them.
